Smile Orchestra

Italian Swing: A Tribute to the Twentieth Century

Founded in 2016, Smile Orchestra embodies with vibrant authenticity the spirit of swing from the 1930s and 1940s. Performed by the Smile Orchestra Quartet, the concert pays tribute to some of the most significant voices of the Italian musical tradition: Natalino Otto, Ernesto Bonino, Trio Lescano, and Alberto Rabagliati. Through their distinctive styles, these artists successfully combined melodic elegance with an innovative spirit, helping to shape Italy’s musical identity during a period of remarkable creative momentum. The programme invites audiences on an emotional journey through the musical gems of the 1930s and 1940s—compositions imbued with charm, energy, and character, which not only captivated generations of listeners but also proudly carried Italy’s name beyond its borders.
