Sephardic Night is a traditional event held for the past 18 years as part of Baščaršija Nights.

Initially conceived as a showcase of Sephardic cuisine, it has evolved into a cultural performance that reflects Sephardic culture and traditions—what the Sephardim brought with them to Bosnia after fleeing Spain. The title of this year’s program is The Keys of Spain. It is inspired by a beautiful legend about how Jewish families, fleeing Spain 500 years ago, took their house keys with them, hoping to return one day. They did not bring with them only the keys to their homes, but also their language – Ladino, their proverbs, their culture and traditions, Sephardic cuisine, and the Sephardic romance.
