Semezdin Mehmedinović was born in 1960 in Kiseljak near Tuzla. He studied comparative literature at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo. He worked as an editor in newspapers, weekly magazines, radio, and television. He edited several cultural magazines and was involved in filmmaking. In 1994, his feature-documentary film “Mizaldo, End of Cinema” was created, which was screened out of competition at the Berlin Film Festival. He has published poetry collections: “Modrac” (1984), “Emigrant” (1990), and “Nine Alexandrias” (2002), as well as the book of notes, short stories, and poems “Sarajevo Blues” (1995).
